Meet Telika McCoy, Ph.D.

Dr. Telika McCoy

Telika McCoy leads Dr. Telika McCoy Ministries in North Carolina. She is the Minister of Youth at Mount Peace Baptist Church, Professor of Practical Ministry and Director of Nurturing Children & Youth at Shaw University Divinity School, and she hosts Christian study and talk programming. McCoy is a life encourager, author, singer, sought-after teacher, and Bible-based preacher. Her commitment to spiritual care and her value for human life is felt among many as she reaches out through compassion ministries.

Her mission is to positively impact lives, heal hearts, and win souls to Jesus Christ.

As a child, McCoy's world was filled with struggles in education and self-image. Her life was marked by feelings of inadequacy related to labels placed on her in classrooms and in society. She worked hard to escape the pain of self-hate. By the age of 14, she had accepted Jesus Christ and The Holy Bible, so her life began to transform. An eagerness to learn more of what God thought of her produced self-confidence and peace; so, by the of age 27, she was preaching The Gospel so that others might accept Jesus and be liberated from the oppression of mental bondage.

McCoy began ministering in the city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She served youth who were at risk of the pipeline to prison experience. She founded Dr. Telika McCoy Ministries, a global media ministry, that is designed to touch the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

McCoy is a humanitarian leader whose ministry has provided resources to inner city youth, funding to college students, and supplies to elders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a woman, McCoy has played a revolutionary role in Christian ministry and has been noted for paving the way for others to pursue God's call for their lives. As a leader, facilitator, and teacher, she is a recipient of countless awards and honors. In 2021, she was deemed a 'Voice for Change' in North Carolina, for the Spectrum News Broadcast, as she discussed research concerning race and kids in America.
McCoy has frequently delivered invocations of note, including the Interfaith Prayer Breakfast gathering commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 2022. She was an active member, alongside Dr. Maya Angelou, of Mt. Zion Baptist Church giving her exposure to the wisdom and discernment needed to serve the masses. Her international preaching and teaching, in South Africa, has caused renewed knowledge and faith.

Today, she serves in full-time ministry and is an in-demand preacher and teacher of The Gospel. She continues to be a mentor for pastors and students, and she travels extensively to fulfill her mandated mission: to positively impact lives, heal hearts, and show others the way to Jesus.
